Anchor Clothes Wringer

Anchor Clothes Wringer

Anchor Brand Clothes Wringer. Erie, PA. Patented May 5th. 1896. From the Lovell Manufacturing Company comes this store model clothes wringer. Dating to the early 20th century, this particular clothes wringer is a combination demonstration model, as well as an advertising piece. All its many features are spelled out on various surfaces of the wringer. The clerk at the local mercantile would no doubt expand on these features hoping to land the sale of another "Anchor Brand Clothes Wringer; Best on Earth and Guaranteed for 5 years". This piece, much like "new old stock", is offered in near mint condition. It is constructed of maple and a combination of cast iron, galvanized iron, and rubber. This appliance from the past stands as a graphic kinetic sculpture today. The wringer itself measures about 16" square. The iron crank adds another 12" to the overall width.
