Make Do Sewing Box

Make Do Sewing Box

Sewing box. Found in Pennsylvania. Early 20th century. Whether from necessity or simply an act of thriftiness, a simple pantry box was re-purposed as a sewing box. Apparantly the lid was separated, a padded quilt section was added and the lid reassembled. The result is a storage box with a pin cushion top. Marked "California Figs" on the lid's underside, this piece gives new meaning to the idea of recycling!
