Pine cupboard. Troy, Missouri c.1870-1890. This simple country chimney cupboard stands 6' 6" tall. Its crown measures 21" wide and 16" deep. A common feature in the 19th century home, this sturdy cupboard served as support for a brick chimney, thus its name. A flu pipe routed out of the chimney led to a nearby stove for cooking or heating. Constructed using 19th century wire nails, this cupboard is offered in original paint and condition.
