Bottle Cap Basket

Bottle Cap Basket

Basket. c.1940. Most likely Missouri origin. The basket meaures 20" long and 10" wide. It stands near 12" to the top of the handle. It is comprised of bottle caps bearing the names of various bottled drinks. The majority of these are Coca-Cola and Falstaff, which was a product of the Lemp Brewery, a long defunct St Louis, Missouri beer maker. There are a number of caps marked "McGovern Pilsner Beer", which was an obscure brewery in Old Appleton, Missouri that dates to around 1940. This would indicate the piece was most likely made in or around that area. The basket is in great original condition.
