Bittersweet Checkerboard

Checkerboard. Maine origin. Single pine board with attached moulding. 16" square. This boldly painted checkerboard has achieved a wonderful surface over its lifetime. It remains in excellent and original paint and condition. The numbers 1 14 29 are scratched into the board's back. It's impossible to know exactly what these small numbers indicate or when they were added. Although it could be the date of the board's creation, the piece appears to be closer to the turn of the century.
