Parcheesi Board XMAS 1900

Two-sided game board. Signed E.B.S. XMAS 1900. Published Art of the Game Shaver/Chambers 2001 plate 108. This apparent home made Christmas gift is painted on a single pine board with bread board ends. A subtle backgound of ochre and tobacco colors are sharply contrasted by the obvious colors of the season, red and green. The effect is that of a stylized Christmas wreath. These same background colors are incorporated into a checkerboard on the reverse. It is in its original as found paint and condition. Shrinkage from the breadboard ends on the right side of the game show the decoration has become misaligned. This is as it should be on a piece from this period. Age cracks are also evident for the same reason.
