Chinese Checkers Board
Game board, Illinois c.1930. 14 1/2" wide, 19" tall painted on 3/4" plywood. This 8 color Chinese checkers game board has the appeal of a primitive oil painting. The slightly eskew positioning of the 6 pointed star as well as the less than linear design add to its overall artistic appeal. The colors chosen for decoration are reminscent of those in an Amish quilt. The piece was in fact found in the Amish area of north central Illinois and may very well be from a local Amish household.
