Primitive Minimal Game Board

Primitive Minimal Game Board

Two-sided game board. Early 20th century. Midwest origin. This game board, which can only be described as primitive in make and appearance, has strong minimalist appeal. A 19th century 1" thick hard pine board has been transformed from an earlier use evident by the square nails remaining in the board itself into this compelling game board. By being somewhat randomly placed on the board, the games appear to float on the face of the 17" by 30" piece. Traces of original paint can be found on both sides.
