19th century Halma game board. 17” by 26”. The game of Halma is an American game invented in 1883 or 84 by a Harvard Medical School surgeon. The name was taken from the Greek word meaning jump. Based on an earlier English game, this was the inspiration for the later game of Chinese checkers. Small multi colored squares gives Halma its visual appeal and makes the game a nice addition to any collection. Found in the midwest, this piece is in original paint and very good as found condition.
