Early carving from New England. Although only a fragment remains of this early toy, what a fragment it is! Soft pine was nicely carved into a wide face atop a thick full body. The face looking very near like Schroeder of Charlie Brown fame, is finished with a hairstyle reminiscent of those of the 19th century. Remnants of cloth and pegs are all that remain of the arms. Slots in the lower torso indicate missing legs. The carving itself is 9” tall and stands 12” high as shown.
