What a peach! Great vintage sign from a 3 generation Michigan orchard. Dating to the 1950's, this double-sided figural sign has a great painterly surface and is in the best original condition. The sign is painted on a 1/2" piece of plywood and measures 27" by 24" overall.

19th century adult-size parade dress. This wonderful piece of patriotic Americana was purchased from a collector in Jefferson City, Missouri. It is in amazing original condition with only some minor fading. Made of cotton satteen, it is shown on a vintage Wolf Dress form from New York City. The form is included with the piece. The costume displays beautifully while bringing with it a sense of America's patriotic past.

Single homemade wooden snowshoe recently discovered in Illinois. Offered in great as found condition. It is slightly over 4' long measuring 49 1/2" end to end and 9 1/2" wide. The binding consists of a carved footbed and leather bindings. The curved tip and tail are reinforced. Adding to its appeal is the original red wash. Scale and form make this a great decorative piece for any lodge or cabin!

Unusual farmhouse diorama. 35 1/2" by 20 1/2" by 11 1/2" deep overall. This homemade half model of a classic midwestern farmhouse is likely a one-of-a-kind made by the home's resident. The piece was found in north central Ohio and easily dates c.1900. It is offered as found including the hand carved farm dog.. The shed and a small wood pile complete this idyllic farm scene tableau.

There is no doubt any early antique can easily be described as a 'survivor'. Some survive looking virtually new and untouched. Others truly survive and bring the with them the character only achieved by being used. This wonderful 19th century firkin is just such an example. It has been worn to perfection with paint oxidation and repairs, yet it remains sturdy and strong. It stands 9 3/4" high and 9 1/4" at the top.

This great old shoofly rocker likely dates c.1900 if not slightly before. It is lovingly named 'DEXTER' after the world famous harness racing horse. Sired in Orange County, NY, Dexter was a champion earning fame throughout the country. Dexter died in 1888 at 30 years of age. This wonderful rocker is offered in original as found paint and condition.

Dating to the mid 19th century this mortar and pestle is offered in original red paint. The mortar itself stands 7" tall. The shaped pestle, guaranteed to be original to the piece, adds another 5 1/2" making the overall height 12 1/2" as pictured. This is an early piece and has developed a small age crack in the base not visible without examination. Other than this affect of time, the mortar and pestle are in fine condition with a most desirable dry red surface.

The desire to play checkers is never more obvious than when it lead the maker to improvise. Such is the case with this make-do checkerboard made from the seat salvaged from a Pennsylvania plank bottom chair. 15 1/2" square overall. Easily dating to the 19th century, this folky piece was found in Lancaster County, PA. It is offered in original as found paint and condition. This is a great addition to any collection adding a bit of whimsy to the genre.

Delightful homemade child's wheelbarrow from a Connecticut nursery. Made for little folks with green thumbs, it easily dates to the 1950s' and remains in great original paint and condition. Folky produce decorates both sides giving the piece its charm. The wheelbarrow measures only 30" from wheel to handle and sits 15" to the top of the handle. The width is 13" overall. Its small size makes it an easy piece to decorate with from table top to countertop. It's also great for flowers.

Good morning!!! Wake up to this vibrantly painted homemade rooster weathervane from Connecticut. This great example of farm made folk art likely dates to the early 20th century. Handmade from sheet iron, this is a smaller piece measuring approximately 12" by 16" overall. It is original in every way right down to its red and yellow oxidized surface. It is shown resting on a contemporary iron stand made specifically for its display.

Larger firkin in original blue-grey paint. 11 3/4" tall. Diameter is 11 3/4" across the lid and 12 1/2" across the bottom. This is a solid staved bucket constructed with copper brads and a single copper staple at the end of each tapered finger. The firkin is tight and offered in sturdy original condition. It is a great size for a stack being the size most often used 2nd to the bottom.

Banner weathervane with multi-faceted star and 'witches hat'. 19thc. 32" by 28" overall. Found in New England, this weathervane has numerous design elements that add to its appeal. An arrow with scroll embellishments is complimented by a fully 3-dimensional star as well as a 'witches hat' to top it off. Although this upper most piece remains sturdy and intact, oxidation from exposure to the elements has caused some losses over time. The piece is shown on a contemporary iron base for display.

For no reason we are aware, pantry boxes in black seem to be few and far between. This bail handle example in original black paint was recently acquired from a former dealer. It measures 9 1/2" by 5 1/2". It is a sturdy box in as found condition. The box may have been exposed to salt or lye causing the discoloration around the bottom. Both were common elements found in some quantities in early homes and kitchens. Even so the pantry box remains solid and intact in great dry black surface.

Wooden trencher in great original red paint. This is a larger piece measuring 22" long and 14" wide. It stands near 5" high overall. The trencher has a wonderful surface. It sits level and displays beautifully. The piece remains in great overall condition with the exception of an age crack in the bottom, which developed over the past 150 years. More visible from the outside, the trencher is priced accordingly. Surface and size make it a great addition to any stack of early trenchers.

We recently acquired this small oval Shaker box from an old collection. We are pleased to make it available for the first time in many years. The box is 6" wide and 2" tall. This is an early box and dates as early as 1830. It is most likely from the Alfred or Sabbathday Lake, Maine Shaker communities. The box is in very good, but worn as found condition.

Great smaller oval box. This is an early 19th century piece likely from New England. It measures 6 3/8" by 4 3/4" and 2 1/2" tall. Finely constructed with a single tapered finger, the box is made of maple and pine. This piece has achieved a warm nut brown patina over the years. The box is offered in excellent as found condition with no splits or losses.

Nice old buttocks basket in original paint. This piece easily dates to the late 19th century. Found in the midwest, it remains in great as found condition with only a minor loss or two from use over time. The wrapped rim and handle are in dry black paint while the basket itself is in a dry red bordering on bittersweet. This old country basket will be a wonderful addition to any country collection.

This is a great example of an early American country game board. Found in western New York state, the board likely dates to the 1850's. It is painted on a single thick pine board and measures 13" 3/4 by 13 1/4" including a 1 1/4" frame attached by cut nails. The game itself is 9"x 9" square. Undisturbed mustard and black paint provide a wonderful original surface. The board is stenciled 'FRED. E. GRAY.' on the unpainted backside.

Unusual 3-color checkerboard. Rather than using a contrasting color for creating squares in a red playing field, the maker of this board chose to go 'tonal' by using another shade of red. The effect is more or less that of a 'shadow plaid' unique to us in the realm of game boards. This piece is from an old Wisconsin collection and easily dates c.1900. It measures 31 3/4" by 18 1/4". This is a great example of folk art and a wonderful example of the 'art of the game'.

Late 19th century game board from western New York state. Boards like this were done by professional painters usually working in shops where items other than game boards were also paint decorated. This piece dating to the 1880's shows wear giving this otherwise academic piece a warmth and appeal from use. The dark sienna background is also quite unusual. This is a heavy board measuring approximately 18 1/4" square and set in a 1 1/4" wide frame.

'Steaming cup o' joe'! Plywood sign in the form of a freshly brewed cup of coffee likely dating to the 1960's give or take. 16" by 17" overall. This figural sign depicts a classic porcelain coffee cup complete with saucer. The sign is visually appealing with a folky quality. Notice how the steam rises not from the cup but from behind! The combination of naïveté and classic form gives this sign its 'warm' appeal!

Wonderful graphic game board from New England. Late 19th or early 20th century. An otherwise simple board was wonderfully transformed into a great piece of folk art by the addition of a red star in each corner and a bittersweet star at 'HOME'. It was then made all the more special by adding a painted heart to each corner. The piece is made of a single pine board measuring 16" square. A checkerboard of the same colors incuding corner hearts is found on the reverse.

Visually pleasing handmade hooked rug found in Maine. Early 20th century. This vintage piece incorporates 5 salmon stars amidst a variety of a free form shapes. Besides salmon other colors include an assortment of neutrals as well as reds, olives, browns, soft blue greys, and more. The rug is finished with a black border. Mounted for display, it measures 30" by 40" as shown.

Nineteenth century trencher in paint. This piece measures 20" end to end and 14" wide. It is 4" deep overall. Purchased from an old collection, the bowl is offered in great original as found condition. A minor loss can be seen on one end. The patina indicates this happened many years ago. Giving the trencher strong appeal is its dry original indigo blue painted surface. This is a great piece of early Americana that will make a wonderful addition to any country interior.

Great old sign from a seed and feed store. This farm sign likely dates to around the 1930's . It was found in Indiana and measures 36" by 15" overall. The beautiful surface on this sign is due to the fact that it was painted on a thick solid cherry board. Paint on hardwood ages differently than on softwood thus giving it this soft smooth surface. Apart from a few dings, this piece is in beautiful original condition.
